The purpose of this article was to analyze the postcolonial theory of multicultural education in Taiwan. After first introducing postcolonial theory by discussing some of its basic conceptions-including difference, hybridity, mimicry, ambivalence, and representation-the author attempts to rethink multicultural education in Taiwan. To this end he explores some key educational issues as follows. 1. Offer another way to rethink and interpret multicultural education in Taiwan; 2. Discuss the cultural elements in the educational context; 3. Explore the metaphors of educational system; 4. Recognize fluxional and diverse subjectivities; 5. Participate and develop the educational discourse.
