In celebration of Fo Guang Shan's 50th anniversary, Humanistic Buddhism: Holding True to the Original Intents of Buddha is the latest book by Venerable Master Hsing Yun. This book offers an understanding of the philosophy behind Humanistic Buddhism through the comprehensive examination of Buddhism on its history, concepts, development and the Buddha’s life. In this book, Venerable Master writes, “My affirmation of the belief that Buddha is a human being, not a god, and in his worldly allure is embodied in the Buddha Museum. Ultimately, Humanistic Buddhism, as taught and lived by the Buddha, is a truthful and genuine philosophy.” The book simplifies the essence of Humanistic Buddhism in the hope that all people can thus put the teachings into their lives.

適逢佛光山開山五十週年，星雲大師最新著作《人間佛教佛陀本懷》正式出版。此書傳遞人間佛教的精神理念，透過佛教歷史、基本教義與發展，以及佛陀時代的探討，書中星雲大師表示：「我在佛陀紀念館揭示『佛陀是人，不是神』的本意，畢竟佛陀的人間佛教，是真實無欺無妄的教法。」大師以淺顯的文字將人間佛教的精華融入其中，願大眾將佛法運用在生活中，解脫煩惱，幸福安樂。

Not only informative on the life and history of Buddha, the book also explores his original ideals in a way that allows readers to both understand and replicate these principles of Humanistic Buddhism in everyday life. It is a book to be read over and over again, each time learning something new and gradually allowing ourselves to be guided on the path of enlightenment with joy and proper understanding.

I think the content of this book is well written, interesting and important to our modern world. I have only read a few pages and look forward to finishing the book. As many would agree the penmanship and the wisdom of Venerable Master Hsing Yun is amazing.
