British Academy of Management (BAM) is seeking to appoint a new joint Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR)

Dear colleague

The British Academy of Management (BAM) is seeking to appoint a new joint Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Management Reviews (IJMR) to take effect from September 2016, with the final year issue as a hand over. The term of office is for 3 years in the first instance with the possibility of a renewal. The post carries an honorarium and travel expenses associated with the role including attendance at one international conference.

IJMR is currently in its eighteenth year of publication and has established an excellent reputation for publishing high quality articles across the full range of business and management disciplines. Since its entry into the Institute of Science Index (ISI), IJMR has grown in strength and enhanced its standing as a major outlet for high impact work. Its citation figure currently stands at 3.857. It is ranked 6th out of 115 in the business category and 11th out of 185 in the management category. This prestige results from the journal’s unique intellectual identity, and reflects not least the achievement of the current Editors-in-Chief, Professor Caroline Gatrell, who will remain in post, and Professor Ossie Jones, whose term of office will conclude this year. This prestigious post offers the successful candidate an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution by taking the Journal’s international repute and standing to the next level.

In seeking a new joint Editor-in-Chief, BAM is looking for someone with a clear vision and enthusiasm for the Journal, excellent organizational skills and the appropriate scholarly knowledge and standing to further develop the international reputation of IJMR. The ability to work collaboratively and constructively with the incumbent Editor-in-Chief is essential. This is an exciting and challenging role and it is expected that the candidates will have had some previous editorial experience (i.e. as an editor or a member of an editorial board etc.), extensive experience as a reviewer for management journals, capacity to handle a demanding workload, ability to work constructively with authors, reviewers and BAM, and be familiar with current issues in journal publication. We anticipate holding interviews in April or early May 2016 to enable the new appointee to be in post for the mid-year handover.

Attached is further information on this role, or you can contact Monika Narvydaite at the BAM office (mnarvydaite@bam.ac.uk). Applicants can contact Bill Cooke, BAM Vice-Chair for Research and Publications to discuss informally the nature of the editorial task and support that the Academy gives its Editors.
